How to set Gmail as the Default Email app on iPhone/iPad

Tired of using Apple’s default email app on your iPhone/iPad? if you’re running iOS14/iPadOS 14 or later, you can now set a 3rd party email as the default. here is how you can set up Gmail on your Apple device. 

  • Ensure you have the latest version of Gmail downloaded & installed.  

  • Once confirmed, tap on “Settings” (Cog icon) > scroll down to “Gmail” and tap on it.

  • Alternatively in Settings you can type in Gmail in the search bar. 

  • tap on “Default Mail App” & select “Gmail” from the list. 

  • Thats it. if you want to use a different app such as outlook, the process is exactly the same.
