Tile, the square-shaped lost-item tracker

Can’t find your keys, wallet, laptop or other items? Then allow me to introduce to you a device known as Tile.

Tile is a small device that is designed for you to attach to anything that you want to keep track of (or have a tendency to lose). Once you’ve attached a tile, you use the paired smartphone app to help you find what you’ve lost.

How does it work?

In a nutshell, Tile uses a low powered wireless signal (Bluetooth) to tell your phone where it is. If you are within 100 feet of your lost item your phone will tell you if you are getting closer or further away, the Tile will also play a distinctive melody until it is found. The app also records when you last saw your lost item, helping you retrace your steps if you are out of the tile’s range.

You can store up to 8 Tiles on your phone, so you don’t have to constantly change what your tile is attached to. You can also share the same Tile with other users, such as family car keys. The tile has a battery that will last for 1 year and is now available at the company’s website.
